Music Media Recommendations

  1. It is recommended that CD-R discs be used when recording music to disc from a computer.  The discs that have been recorded in the CD-R format should play on most compact disc players, provided that they have been properly finalized.
  2. Should a disc become dirty (i.e. fingerprints, smudges) wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth before presenting it for play.  If a CD-R is scratched, error-free playback may not occur. Most playback errors occur from dirty or scratched discs.
  3. Do not expose discs to direct sunlight for extended periods of time as this may cause the CD-R to warp.
  4. The use of a paper label or label of any type is not recommended.  The label may interfere with the operation of the compact disc player if it becomes loose.
  5. Use a soft marker (i.e. Sharpie etc.) to label your CD-R.  Never use a ball-point or hard-tipped pen, as this may cause damage to the recorded side.
  6. Do not use irregular shape CD-R’s, or “cutouts”.  Only full-sized CD-R’s should be used.
